Video Watch: Icebird and Yellow Ostrich

Music Videos of a Feather

It’s time for dos videos. This week’s videos are from Icebird and Yellow Ostrich. No, I didn’t plan to have a bird theme this week. That just kind of happened. Let’s go into a little back ground on these artists shall we?

Icebird is a duo made up of DJ RJD2 and Aaron Livingston. RJD2 has been one of my favorite artists since I was in high school. I’m continually eager for anything he is working on or putting out. His music always has a way of making you move whether you want to or not. He’s that good. The two of them first worked together on the track “Crumbs of the Table” on RJD2’s newest album Colossus. After listening and seeing what these two produce together I’m anxiously awaiting the release of their full length album coming out on October 11, released through RJD2’s label Electrical Connections. It’s going to shake my bones and I can’t wait.

Yellow Ostrich just released their debut album The Mistress. The album is gorgeous and the way that lead singer, Alex Schaaf’s voice is used is brilliant. This band is definitely on their way to invading your ears on a regular basis. The video for “Whale” is directed by Eric Gross and delivers everything I love about a music video. The Mistress is available now on Barsuk Records.
