Sheet Music App
As a former piano player, my living room is piled high with old books of sheet music. While I love the feel of the sheets of music, I am in the midst of a battle with my child’s toys, which are slowly taking over my entire home. Instead of trying to find places to stuff my sheet music, a company has managed a way to turn sheet music into an app with the iSheetMusic app. I guess you could say there really is an app for everything.
Designed for both iPhone and iPad (sorry Android users), this free app from iSheetMusic lets you download sheet music right to your iDevice. One could argue that squinting your eyes trying to see the sheet music on your screen might pose as a bit of a challenge, however I can see this as a useful tool if you are tight on space, or especially if you are a musician and looking to easily have access to sheet music at any time.
What’s also cool is the app comes with a built-in metronome that counts in the song and keeps in beat, and turns the virtual pages for you! The display also lets you zoom, rotate, and pinch.
While the app is free, the sheet music is not. Songs start at 99 cents or $2.99 per pre-selected bundle of five, you can buy additional copyrighted songs directly from iSheetMusic.com, or from within the app, and instantly download a display of the song’s digital sheet music. Right now they have a catalog of 10,000 songs but hope to reach 30-40,000 songs by the end of the year.
I really think this app would serve better on the iPad rather than your iPhone but that’s just my personal opinion. You can download the app here and watch the video below for more visual details.
